Where does the TSA contraband end up? I would love to see the SAKs all piled up and given to Scouts, youngsters being introduced to the outdoors, or DIYers needing a beater to get those jobs done.

FDR promised us a chicken in every pot, but we could have a knife in every pocket with this sort of redistribution!;)

They are auctioned off by the pound. Some TSA headquarters down south IIRC.

I bought several batches of these when I led a Cub Scout Pack, and cleaned them up and gave them to Scouts' parents to give to them when they got their signoffs to carry them.

Out of every batch of about twenty, I'd mange to get about a dozen working again. Some were so far gone I'd toss them. If you're into customizing, buying the TSA lots might be a good deal, but buying new SAK's and giving them to the boys would probably be a better option.
