I'd like to see a SAK that offers the following:

(1) LED light
(2) retractable pen
(3) I'd like a mirror but fail to see how one could be incorporated
(4) compass - I've seen them in Wengers and embedded in Victorinox handles
(5) timepiece - same as above
(6) magnifying glass
(7) nail file with rounded end

Nothing sharp or threatening.

Can anyone think of something else to add?

Kinda sounds like my wife's Miss Army Knife.

I hope we don't resort to EDCing these. They're cool, but I don't need a perfume bottle.:) It does meet some of your criteria though.

It has 1) LED light, 2) pen, 3) mirror, 7) nail file (not sure if it's rounded end).

As for those it does not have: 4) I believe an Eddie Bauer tool has this, am I right? (it flips out to the side in a little plastic case), 5) not sure if I've ever seen a multi-tool with both compass and timepiece (would be an interesting design), 6) I agree with a magnifying glass (these are standard on many SAKs anymore),

Are screwdrivers threatening. I couldn't live without a screwdriver of some kind on a multitool I owned. So I guess I'd add 8) Screwdrivers (various sizes or in interchangeable bit format, I wonder which would be less-threatening?), 9) tweezers, 10) toothpick, 11) bottle opener (?). I would say a corkscrew but those things look like some sort of medievil torture device. :D Hmm, let's see. How about 12) a laser pointer (would be great for presentations, could be run off same battery as LED light, or is this not truly feasible), 13) fingernail clippers (?), 14) spoon and 15) fork, or 14) spork.

Ah, I don't know what else to add. That seem's like it would be a massive multi-tool with approx. 14 tools + or - some screwdrivers. :D

My idea is to have a tool to throw into my bag that would pass muster at airport and courthouse security checkpoints.

Your regular EDC tool might be a SwissChamp or a SwissTool R/S. I carry both. :D

If you were called to jury duty or had to travel by air, you could divest yourself of your normal gear, knowing that your Sheeple Safe tool was still at the bottom your bag.

You could carry separate tools to perform the functions I mentioned above, but having them all in a SAK would be cool. And I could once again travel EVERYWHERE with a SAK. That's my point, for what it's worth.

Looks like you might have hit the jackpot, freezergeezer! ;)

I'm just kidding and this is actually a pretty serious subject. As far as the U.S. Transportation Security Administration is concerned, no knife with a blade, point or toenail clippers is allowed on an airliner in America (unless inside one's checked luggage, carried in the cargo hold), and perhaps never will be, again.

I think that if Victorinox can make knives containing either a compass or a watch, on a single side, they could make one that has a compass on one side and a watch on the other, without having to retool their handle-making operations. Then again, they could make a special run, with the watch and compass embedded into one side of the handle.

As far as a mirror goes, why not include a metal mirror, in the shape of a classic butter knife's blade, to replace the normal blade? Hm, one side could be totally mirror, and the other could be the file? Or, maybe have a second butter knife-shaped "blade" and that would be a file with medium and fine sides, or wood versus metal files?

The rest of your suggestions are already included on some other models of SAK. How about including a 1GB USB memory chip, like the Swiss Memory?

Cardimon, maybe you should write Victorinox and suggest it, since it's your request? ;) They might call it the "TSA Special" or maybe the 'UnKnife?'
