Hello all. I recently purchased the Blitz 360 sharpener and am very impressed with it so far, after just sharpening a kitchen knife to 15 degrees each side. The stones i'm using are the 3Centauri stones from gritomatic, which are the dual sided 80/150 100%, 240/400 25%, and 800/1200 25% stones. I'm looking to add a strop (maybe the cheap cowhide leather from gritomatic), but was wondering if there were any recommendations for stones to further complement my progression. Should I add a stone between the 1200 and strop(with green compound)? Steels i'll be sharpening include AEBL, VG10, S30V, S35VN, S90V, S110V, 52100, and CPM-Cruwear. Thanks for the advice!

For the majority of the steels you mentioned, diamonds would work best. Myself and many others use the Matrix stones from edgepro and I believe gritomatic sells them too. I know a few have used Venev diamond stone, but having never used them can’t speak to how well they work. The Matrix stones though are just beautifully effective and easy to use and wear very very slowly. Will last for years!

I just realized my first post wasn't clear, but the 3Centauri stones are diamond stones from Venev.

Ok, if you’re satisfied with the overall finish of the blade with that 1500 then no other stones are needed b4 stropping. If you’d like to refine the edge further then yeah, the 2300 or 4000 stone will make a noticeable improvement. As far as the strop goes, I would get at least 2. And nix the green paste and go to a diamond liquid like 3.5 or 1.5 micron. Venev ales that too, but I get mine from Northwest Knife Guy here on the board. Good stuff!! And then use a plain kangaroo strop to finish. You’ll have an edge so shiny and sharp it’s damn near scary.....

I strop on a basic, rough-side strop (green, then black) after the Venev 800/1200 and get hair whittling edges in those steels. It is a well-polished edge but not a mirror. Personally, I wouldn't take the time to work on higher grit stones.

I've recently taken to stopping at 800 grit, then stropping.

Are you using these on a TSprof also? Have you heard of anyone using those matrix stones freehand?

Actually, I am using them on a Hapstone M2. Their version of am EdgePro. They like the TSprof, are using the edgepro stone and holder format of 6x1 stones.
I have heard that Diemaker (creator and mfg of Matrix stones and a member here) is working on free hand stones, but no idea of when they may be in production. He wants it all just right before it goes to the end user.

Here is the first person I think of when this is asked, and here is my favorite video of his on the subject. He really likes the 1x6 size stones for his way of sharpening.
