Now is tanto!

Cool pictures! I've thought about getting one and this isn't helping. ;) he he he.

Wait a minute, your Tsunami has a different guard and blade finish then the one shown on SOG's site. Also, I can't make out any jimping on the spine or a logo. Did you modify your knife or get a special edition?

Yup, looks nothing like the Tsunami I had. I just figured it was a newer or older version. Wonder what the story is.

I think this is a new version, either latest or close to it. It has the "SOG" letters in the handle and the quillion
which mine doesn't have either. We only get to see the right side of the blade and notice that there seems to
be no "origin" on the ricasso. I have seen Tridents that were like this, they were Taiwan made but for some
reason it doesn't have the tiny "Taiwan" there. If we got to see the left side of the blade I'll bet we'd see the
most recent 3 digital SOG letter logo. Still it's a truly handsome Tanto.

The Tsunami is a very nice looking tanto and I would have certainly bought one if it had been offered with a kydex sheath.
Sog offers after market sheaths for some models but for some reason never offered one for the Tsunami. The Sog marketing staff obviously failed Marketing 101.

rsz_dscf0296.jpgFunny...I prefer leather. I no longer have the original leather sheath so I'm stuck with
a custom Kydex and the latest Nylon one with inner kydex insert.

Love the look of that kydex Ken. I would have kept my Taiwanese Tsunami and EDCed it if it had a sheath like that. Of course I still have the Seki Tsunamis (full sized and mini) with their leather sheaths.

I'm torn between being jealous of your SOG collection, or that you live in a jurisdiction
where you can wear a fixed blade as an EDC. LOL

PA law is strange at best. The knife law is so vague virtually anything is legal, minus daggers and switchblades. Heck until a couple years ago it was not legal to sell a motorcycle on Sundays. Most places that sell beer can only sell you up to a 12 pack. You have to go to a special distributor to get more than 12. Of course that place can't sell you less than a case. We are a strange state...

Here in New York it's variable. Down in NY City you don't want to risk carrying anything that
even remotely has a point on it. In the suburbs where I am a concealed folder up to say 4" isn't a problem. And you can wear just about anything openly if fishing or hunting. An hour and half north of me guys are wearing fixed blades on their belts in town routinely.

The Tsunami's came with kydex sheaths back in the late 90's and early 2000's. It was the standard for most SOG knives back then. If you can find one from that era, it may still have the old factory kydex sheath.
