i was in hawaii for the last week, visiting relatives. saturday we sat around waiting for the tsunami to hit.

my uncle took his boat out of the harbor to avoid any damage done by the rising/falling tides, and managed to do a little fishing.

my cousin holding one of the yellowfin tuna (ahi), and my friend vanessa. they caught another ahi about this size (70-80lbs), a small ahi (10lbs), and a mahi mahi (30-40lbs).

i brought home a nice piece, and decided to cut it up and make poke, raw fish brined in soy/water/onion.

So you brought a piece of raw fish home to LA?

yup! big ziplock, ice packs, and newspaper.

i bring back some kind of fish from every trip there.

Great fish! But we need more pics of Vanessa :)

she's a piece of work! the dreads are new, and i ususally don't care for tatted up women, but she sure is nice to look at.

and she can drink most people i know under the table!!!

I love good fish and that one is a beauty! Just curious....did that fish oil stink up the grips on your Busse? I hear micarta will absorb oils, so I always use my G10 gripped Busse blades when cutting fish. Thanks.

maybe if i soaked it with the fish it would stink.

ive never had any issues with micarta and food prep.
