Tsunami Suji, 300mm slicer!

Hello and good day!

I just wanted to show you one I have been working on Its a 300mm Suji. With Hippo tooth ivory and some of our Tsunami pattern damscus.. I finally got the handles attached and shaped out on this. I gota say, Im super happy with the combination and the way this one came together!

This is only the second Wa style handle I have done. Let me know what you guys think of her!

Next, the pins are being engraved with a Tsunami wave symbol. More Pictures to come!

Here are the specs.

OAL 454mm, 17 7/8"
Blade, 300mm Tsunami pattern damascus 1080 and 15n20
Heel height, 47mm
Spine thickness, 2.5mm fileworked.
Handle Western/Wa construction, hippo ivory and stabilized birch. Stainless and mosaic pins. aprox 138mm

Thanks guys for the comments. :) I just received the knife back from the engraver. He did a AMAZING job.. better then I could of hoped!

Don't think I didn't catch sight of those registered 'H' pins. Wayy coool.

Love the yin-yang tsunami wave. The handle, with the flat facets will be secure to wet hands.

All this said it's the CRAZY steel that magnetizes my eyeball.

You've found a great style and market, Randy!

Here it is guys! This one is finished and ready for delivery!

Specs.

300mm blade, Tsunami pattern damascus steel,1080 and 15n20. RC 59/60,
2.5mm above the heel tapering to 1mm a inch behind the tip.
Heel height is 47.1mm and the balance point is right at the heel.

Western Wa style handle slight taper. With Hippo ivory and stabilized birch burl. Mosaic pins and Tsunami wave engraved stainless pins. Engraving by my friend, Doug Sutherland.

Custom presentation box, Walnut with cocobolo burl handle and brass fittings. Made by another great friend and wood worker extraordinaire, Thomas Blevins.

I feel that this knife and the combined efforts of myself and these other great craftsman, have come together to make this Suji quite exceptional.. :D

Randy - That's extraordinary! The "H" pins are the cat's meow, the engraving adds a whole lot of class(like it needed any more) and that stunning box caps it all of.

This is, by just a smidge, my favorite of yours ....... so far. I always look forward to seeing your new pieces.
