Howdy folks,

All you Killa owners out there, what style sheaths are ya using and who made 'em? I'd love if you could provide some pics and suggestions  Can't really even begin to imagine carrying 30+ ouncer on my belt

HUH? Didn't it come with a cardboard busse custom sheath? Whats wrong with it?

LOL:p

Dave Brown makes one, nice one too. I believe he has it set up for quick draw....if I remember correctly. Dave is pretty freaking ass clever when he comes to his custom kydex creations. You might want to give him a call/email.

If you want leather....check with Leatherman, another creative fella, and if it's do-able then he would be your man. Don't remember seeing any of Dwayne's work for the Zilla but if it's leather Dwayne probably did it.

Hope that helps.

Here's mine by Chuddy Bear, for belt carry ( which I did last weekend and it really wasn't that bad) and Baldric setup

Getting some kydex made up soon, just so I have that option as well

Wow. I'm in love with that sheath. Do the sewn on "x's" on the back of it act as lashing points for strapping it to a pack?

They could be, I've never tried that, but I'm pretty sure the could. The higher one I've used as a belt loop, chages the point of balance so it doesn't feel like its pulling on your belt

The lower one, I've used as a leg tie drop point while I've had it hanging from my belt

When I think about it, a Kukri made of INFI has to be the ultimate 'big' knife! does anyone have a ballpark guess how much one would cost from the custom shop?

Ps that cruddy bear sheath is awesome! Really smart!

AZTim didn't seem to complain about the 30oz on his belt at blade :D I'm sure he'll be along to tell you who did his sheath.

I know who did it :)

He rocks a Buy Brown original exposed spine sheath.

Amazing job, Chuck! I am thrilled

I totally missed this thread, I must have been in the oil patch when this one came up. :foot:

Any how, congratulations on a sweet Chuddy Bear rig for your TTKZ. That sheath is a work of art.

If you find yourself wanting a lighter weight sheath you can carry in all weather conditions, especially wet, keep the Buy Brown kydex option in mind.
I have had both the leather and the kydex and for actual carry for longer than an hour or two, the kydex behind the back is the way to go for comfort and ease of keeping your limbs free from extra burden or impact.
These pics give an idea of how the system works.
Keep in mind, this is not a typical open spine as it had to cover up the nuclear spine, but that actually gave the sheath better retention for my needs. The only trade off is it rubs/lightly scratches the finish when you slide the blade out which is not a concern for a functional user you wish to have on your person.

View from behind, this shows how the sheath/blade is completely out of view from the front and you can wear a long shirt or jacket over it.

Comfortable enough to wear all three days at Blade, as I was caught doing in this pic I stole from KAAK after he was kind enough to post it. :o

This is another method of carry that works well too as a dangler. Notice the extra retention strap to keep the blade secure which is necessary if carrying vertical like this.

Some Chuddy Bear sheaths I have, except for the top one which moved on. I love Chuck's work, it is definitely worth the wait.
The bottom three utilize magnetic retention that works really well.

Kudos to Tim & Dave. Dang it, now I have to buy a Killa Zilla:)
