Brand New Khukuri Knife For You

My shop manager, Rajesh, sent me this letter about a new knife he found in a
remote section of Nepal, close to the border of Tibet. The original design for this
beautiful knife came from the Batase village, and our shop is now making
replicas for you. I'll let him tell you about it.

Dear Yangdu didi,

The Batase village in the Sindhupalchok district, is located on the Eastern and
Northern part of Nepal, very near to the border with Tibet.

This village is not on a road that autos can use and people have to walk about
1.5 to 2 hours to reach this village from the National Highway called Tribuwan
Rajpath.

Farming is the main occupation of these villagers, but a few of them are Kamis.
They have been making these types of Khukuri for decades.

The main, special thing about this knife is the handle. The handle is beautifully
inlayed with silver and brass.

Its overall length is 15”, with a 10” blade and a 5” inlaid satisal wood handle.

Thank you, Rajesh

the gentle curve of the spine and the fat head are intriguing...
I'm no kukri expert, somethin tells me it'll bite better than it's size suggests

..or maybe that's cause it's from HI :D

Wow, amazing handle!
Curves like an M43 and a blade like a pen knife, someone grab this and do a review please!

I like the khuks that favor a nice fat swell towards the end like that. I also really like the inlaid handle, though I cannot say exactly why. Maybe it is the combination of utility and artistry that draws me.

If I had $175 laying around this thing would be mine, or more accurately, Cynthia's. Beautiful inlay work and wicked blade shape.

Beautiful; gotta love the variety. So many different ways to shape a khuk...

A superb combination of utility and artistry ... HI continues to bring us new (or should I correctly say old) designs that are so enticing.
