Tuf Cloth and my Palm V

I got a Palm V for Christmas and noticed that my sweaty hands left ugly smears and fingerprints on the back (anodized aluminum) of the Palm V. I rubbed the back of it down with a Tuf Cloth, let it dry, them buffed off the excess. Problem solved. The Tuf Cloth treatment eliminated the smudges and prints.

uccman . .. how about commenting on your Palm V? Is it as sharp as they say it is? After getting used to it, will it be a welcome addition to your daily arsenal?

The Tuf Cloth will do nothing to prevent aluminum from rusting. It's already rusted completely. Practically every piece of Al you've ever seen was completely covered with rust. Fortunately, Aluminum rust is crystal clear and very, very hard (in the same league as diamond, in fact). Aluminum rust is so hard that if seals the surface of the Aluminum after a layer only a few molecules thick forms on the surface. Once that layer has formed and sealed the surface, no more oxygen can get to the Aluminum and so no more rust can form. Aluminum Oxide, by the way, is a great electrical insulator. This was the problem with Aluminum electrical wiring (a really bad idea that should never have gone anywhere much less inside the walls of people's houses).

In this case, the Tuf Cloth is leaving a finish on Mr. Uccman's Palm V that resists fingerprints. If it works, that's great. Yet another use for Tuf Cloth.

I fold mine up and use it as a fancy pocket square when I'm wearing my fancy suit jacket
