Tuf-Glide/mineral spirits in leaher sheath...?

Hey guys I usually wipe my knives with Tuf-Cloth and I recently got my first knife(a form of carbon steel) in leather sheath.

Is it a stupid idea to damp the inside of the leather sheath with Tuf-Glide or mineral spirits so the blade will be constantly protected?

Sorry guys please tolerate me I'm a noob to leather sheath...

Probably not the best idea. The mineral spirits or Tuf Glide won't hurt the knife, as you know, but they will deteriorate the leather over time.
Anything containing petroleum distillates is also not the greatest for leather. The best idea is not store the knife in the sheath for extended periods of time and continue to clean it and wipe it with your protectant after each use. Good luck.
