Tuff-cloth

Sentry Solutions make their infamous marine tuff-cloth and BM endorses it as a lubricant. As my home Town pals, frank and Mark used my Dept weapons as their "poster child" for their dry-lube systemon firearms. How is the tuff-cloth on knives. getting mixed signals as the "activator" for the tuff-cloth is mineral spirits and I hear that strips the finish off a knife. Any comments to help me out....Wolf

Yes, the carrier for Sentry's proprietary dry film formula is indeed mineral spirits. Shortly after application, the mineral spirit will evaporate leaving behind the dry film protection. I have used both Marine Tuf-Cloth and regular Tuf Cloth on knives with coated blades and they do NOT remove the coating. In addition to this, they will not harm any handle finishes at all. My reasoning for this is the amount of mineral spirits used is very, very little. Hope this helps.

I've used both on a wide variety of blade finishes with no probs. Also, it does not seem to bother any handle materials either.

Recently used it on the wood handles of the BM 690. It is recommended for use on wood finishes.

Dexter: 2000 posts! A milestone! Congrats.

Thank you Sir, I use it on my firearms all the time, but just wanted to be certain as i now start collecting REAL exciting stuff like knives. guns are old, I never got the bug for guns like I have with knives. I dream about them, read about them, talk about them, have to change my shirt five times a day as I drool over all your posts and pics. Addiction, knifeknut forever! thats me!!!
Thank you once again, you guys and some of the finest gentlemen I have had the honor to be taught by........Wolf

I mostly use ATS-34 with a bead blast finish the only reason thet don't rust is tuf-cloth, unless I have them black "T"ed.

I have Tuff Cloth on my carbon steel Marbles, which has been sitting in its leather sheath for 2 months straight. It still looks brand new. No rust or patina. I'm very impressed!!!

I use both Marine Tuf-Cloth and regular Tuf Cloth. No problems here with stripping the finish off my blades nor scales.

Great stuff (IMHO) and will continue to use it. . .
