Having more than my share of new syderco knives purchased this year, Centofante Memory, blue para, spyderco yojimbo, Chokwe, nilakka, and Valaeton. The Tuff has just stood out from the bunch- it's just kicks ass. From the tuff opening and odd blade shape - this blade has just grown on me. I feel- like this knife seems to force me to adapt. From adding to zip-ties to the constant practice needed to be able to sling the knife open using the spydie hole- it has just made me have a different view of "tuff" knives. This might sound wierd- but this blade just makes me feel like i have a bond to this kinfe - like no other. Good job Schempp!!!

Dingle1911,

Zip-ties are sometimes cinched through the top of the Spyder hole and then trimmed at the head so that the head provides a "thumb catch" to aid in opening. I have some on my H1 folders I use fishing so that I have an easier time opening when wearing a glove.

The Tuff is extremely well made, tough and the steel really takes a wicked edge. It gets sharp to the point it's able to cut at a mere touch if that's what you like. People have said it's a steel for fixed blades but I say it's great as a cutlery steel fixed or folder. Those vanadium carbides give it a nasty bite.

I really like the Tuff. It was a bruiser of a knife. I didnt get to beat on one but it felt like it could take on tough tasks with no problem.

Sal...

Great design...
Great manufacturing quality...
Great materials...
Great value...

Please keep up the good work. My older (23 YO) son and I each bought one and are completely satisfied.

Indeed, gotta give credit where credit is due and the Tuff is a great knife and quite the tank. Thanks to Schempp and Sal.

The Tuff is the type of knife which grows on you after putting it to its pace.
Mine is open in Spyderdrop mode with ease and goes into any cutting and light chopping jobs with reliability.
This folding knife is really stepping on the fixed blade domain. It's a pleasure to notice all the engineering refinements to get this folding tool as tough as possible. :-)

I like to think that the Tuff is so special because of its unique shape as well as its other attributes. It has a Para2 now to keep it company. It is for me also one knife I had second thoughts on before buying and then ended up liking above all my other knives. It's just the perfect knife for me.

Quick update. My Tuff has loosened a lot since I received, I can now thumb flick it open just like a Millie. Although the spydie hole is much harsher on the nail.

The Tuff is probably my next purchase. I handled one at a store when they first came out and thought the design and the fit and finish were great but wasn't sure about corrosion resistance of 3V and I was a little turned off by how hard it was to open and close. Since most that have one have said they loosen up with some use I'll probably give one a try. We'll see how much of an issue corrosion is, it seems like most people aren't having problems with it.

I'm impressed with mine. However, it is unnecessarily thick behind the edge for my purposes, especially at the tip. Accordingly, I took it to the grinder (great care to keep it cool, etc.) and thinned it a little. It's wearing a convex edge at present.

I've used it extensively, from deer to carving to clearing scrub. I've taken many pics along the way; will post a review when time permits.

I like CPM3V- I've got a few fixed blades in it but this was my first folder in it. Certainly no corrosion issues thus far. I damaged the edge near the tip but given the use it was getting at the time I was amazed there wasn't more.

Enjoy!

I want the tuff I'm just worried about 3v and the climate I live in (very humid) I don't really like patinas and have heard that 3v pits when it rusts can anyone chime in on this, right now my only carbon steel knife is a gayle bradley and it gets a tuff cloth bath once a week, or whenever it gets used hard...

Just got my Tuff also. Love this blade. Built like a tank, it feels like you could hammer nails with it all day. A little tough to open, but with the frame lock, I guess that's expected. This knife just feels indestructible. Can't wait to put it to good use.

Man I really dig that Tuff...maybe some day! Such a wicked cool knife. Not cheap though! :D
