Tufram-coated Models

I have been searching and have not had much luck. I am looking for a Tufram-coated Police model. How many were made, are they available on the after-market (I know they're discontinued)? How much are they selling for now? Were they all serrated? I used to have an aluminum handled Worker, and wish I'd never sold it. Thanks, Leo G.
 
LAG - Go to the Wanted to Buy section in BladeForums. Tell us what you want. When you get emails that will tell you the going price. I have done this many times and have been more than satisfied with the responses and knives i have received from the community. rico
 
I guess I really wanted to get some background info. before I tried to buy one and possibly pay too much. I've seen them on e-bay but they were outrageous. I was really looking for some history to make it worth my while chasing a plainedge or not. I don't think you could beat a lightweight Police model, (though I don't like G-10) Thanks, Leo G.
 
Hi Lag. The Tuffram Police model was one of the best Police models ever. It was light, strong and the Tuffram coating proved to be quite effective at resisting scratching. The cost of preparing the aluminum to accept the coating was prohibitive. The Tuffram Police was one of the few models that we stopped making simply because they were too expensive. If you like the Police Model pattern, you would appreciate the Tuffram version. My guess is that we made about 1200 pcs. possibly as many as 2,000, but I doubt it.

Thanks Sal: I just got a serrated Military. That should satisfy me for a while. I do believe that when I get the funds to go looking for a Tufram Police I will. It's only a matter of time. I seem to remember they were only available with Spyderedge from Golden Edge Cutlery back in the early 90's? Is this correct? Leo Gilbert
 
Hi Leo. They were a normal model available to all of our dealers and distrubtors. They were not popular with the dealers because of the high price, so they were more difcficult to find.
