Hi guys, I'm buying a Fiddleback Forge bushcraft style fixed blade that I intend to open a carry using a dangler style belt sheath.

I'm fairly aware of the basic laws in California, but I don't know how to find the specific laws for my city/county.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you very much. It will influence which model I choose.

Go to http://www.amlegal.com/library/ca/tulare.shtml and click on "VIEW CODES" to find laws specific to Tulare. Then type "knife" into the search box in the blue/grey field at the top of the screen.

I did a search for "knife" and "blade" and all I found regarding knives were laws pertaining to switchblades. I'd say your safe to openly carry a fixed-blade as far as the written law is concerned. It looks like state knife laws apply in Tulare.

Of course I'm not your lawyer and you didn't pay for my legal opinion. ;)

Thanks! Looks like I'm good. There is a code that states that you can't have a knife, open carry or not that opens one handedly though. Looks like it ties in with a automatic knife law so I don't know what they are really saying. They couldn't ban all one handed openers could they? Probably more than half of the men in the city would be guilty of that crime.

I'm terrible at reading and understanding these laws. In any case, I plan to edc the fixed blade so I'm less concerned by the folder thing.

My wife was telling me the other day about how her brother had had his father's Buck confiscated years ago. She wasn't sure if it was a fb or folder, but it was in a slip sheath in his pocket. He was arrested for possession of a deadly weapon. The guy is pretty sketchy though. My guess was that it was the middle of night on the bad side of town and was a fixed blade. She did say that it was a hunting knife, but that could mean a lot of different Buck models.

Anyway, I'm just going to carry my Fiddleback with confidence. I abide by the law and I'm respectful. Hopefully those are enough to keep me from being harassed.

I (somehow) missed that you had reviewed the laws as well.

I think we both came to the same conclusions. :)

California may be nutty in more than one way, but I believe the knife laws are pretty decent (in most places) when comparing to some other states.

Thanks again.
