Well, spent a good part of yesterday at the Tulsa gun/knife show. Its billed as the worlds largest...and it may very well be. Something like 3500-4000 tables, with a good portion of those being knives. I met up with fellow forumite Jeremy Reynolds and my wife and I walked the show with him. We also ran into Ray Kirk, always a pleasure to visit with him. Jeremy made 2 knife display stands (very nice work) for myself and Ray.

There were plenty of knife dealers for both production and custom knives. Also, plenty of makers had tables, and we spent a few minutes talking with Pete Peterson. Guild member Colin Cox had a table also, and he had some really good looking knives there. I could go on listing makers that were there, but I would be here all day, suffice to say there were plenty

We stopped by Bob Doziers table. I have been thinking of getting one of his knives for a while, but for some reason it never happened. My wife took care of that for me, and bought the one I wanted

Jeremy scored himself a couple of nice knives, but i'll leave that for him to tell about. Hes a really nice guy, and I look forward to going to some more shows with him.

Now, onto the bad news. It appears that for the first time in 45 years of this show, that somebody got hurt. Guns in the show must be un-loaded and tied to prevent the actions from operating. Some moronic idiot managed to get his gun loaded, and when taking from his holster, shot some poor man through the leg. The man is in the hospital, and the idiot who showed his poor gun handling skills is in custody on a charge of wreckless handling of a firearm. Leave it to some schmuck to try and ruin a good thing for the rest of us.

So, who else made the show? What did ya end up bringing home? What did you think of the show all around?

UPDATED and REVISED

I had a great time at the show. Meeting Richard, his wife, and Ray was a lot of fun. Like Richard said, there were a lot of knives there. Some fairly well known makers like Bob Dozier, Newt Livesay, and Martin Pullen as well as Lile knives were there. I picked up a little Livesay G-45 neck knife. Great little 1095 cord wrapped blade. Very good value too. The other knife I picked up was a custom liner lock from an Arkansas maker named Dennis McDonald. The knife was one of his last 2 display knives. It has been handled some, but it is still in excellent shape. The fit and finish is not perfect, but it is very good. There are a few sharp corners I would like to be a little rounder, but the knife is good. Lock up is execellent and the redwood burl handles are beautiful. For the price, I simply couldn't pass that knife up. It was just too good of a deal. Overall, i had a great time. And oh yeah, eat your hearts out people... I am on my way to Chief's to pick up my LCC/DA I have on order

I would like to thank Jeremy for the very nice oak knife display stand. It will be used I can assure you.
I too had a great time visiting at the show. Glad I left before the accident happened. Considering the number of people at the show, there are really a lot of safe people in the world. I got to meet Jeff Randall and Jerry VanHook of Tactical Knives and also "fudo" while visiting at Newt Livesay's table. It was great to be able to renew old friendships and make new ones. See you later Richard.
