So I picked up a Hogue EX03 Knife for just under $100 and am surprised by the unique styling of the blade and the finish - does anyone know anything more about stone tumbled finishes with a mirror finish like this? Why do more production knife makers not offer this neat finish styling?

Secondarily - that plunge/button lock is incredibly smooth to use and operate - sure seems sturdy for what I need - I do not see many button/plunge locks out there - any reason why?

The Doug Ritter stonewashed finish is very similar. There are some others as well. I like it.

Stone washing is merely the second step for a lot of manufacturers. Some bead blast then stone wash, while others polish then stone wash.

Interesting - I have seen stonewashed finishes (kershaw mainly) before but the Hogue EX03 seems to be tumbled differently - not sure what rocks Allen Elishewitz is using but I like them - it has a mirror polish that just gleams - looks like little chunks of diamonds are in the hefty blade.
