I'm wondering if any of you guys have any experience with the 18 lbs. metal tumbler sold at Harbor Freight. I picked one up along with 10 lbs. of the green resin media that they sell a couple days ago. I set it up put the 10 lbs. of media in it, put my striped BK2 in it around 5pm. I came out the next morning to check on it. It did not look any different then when I put it in. Along with my BK2 I also dropped a small piece of O1 tool steel that I had laying around. The O1 had many rust spots on it. The O1 did come out a little cleaner but still had visible rust on it. The tumbler gets good reviews and i have watched many you tube videos on it. One video I watched a guy dumped a bunch of rusty bolts in it with the grean media (same stuff I used) and the bolts all come out rust free. I picked up 10 lbs. of the grey media that Harbor Freight sells yesterday but am a little skeptical about using it. I'm just wondering if anyone has used one and if I'm doing something wrong? Should I be using more media? All help is much appreciated.

I remember Worldwood saying he didn’t have great results with the HF tumbler either...
Could be the HF provided media, but that’s just speculation on my part.
Might be worth looking into other providers to find a good abrasive media?

lotttta kind of media :D

is the green stuff emeralds?

Patience is your friend ...... If you have “fine” media it will take a loooong time..... They are usually little sharpening stones and just like say, 1200 grit takes a long time to make a dull blade sharp very fine grit media can take forever.....There is no elbo grease involved so....patience.... e

I ran my first batch of stones last month, it took all month. 4 stages to reach a smooth polish, but being new, I learned much about mistakes.
