Tumbling residues or rust ?

Hi all,

I've purchased 8 brand new Emerson knives over the last few months. I love them. However in the jimping indentations, there's what initially looks like rust. I emailed Emerson knives a few weeks ago and I was told these are simply tumbling residues and nothing to worry about.

Have you guys noticed this too ? Most of my Emerson knives have this, that is, the new stone washed finish, which is great btw.

I think it is found on many of the stonewashed blades. I see it on mine as well and others have commented about seeing it also.

Emerson emailed me back saying they're (stains) are tumbling residues.
