Got a used 560 that had a broken-off tip and some terrible blade play a while ago.

(it's the one with the SW initials on the blade)

So, to make it a more pleasing sight I bought a 486 (good thing they're cheap) and a 1/8" pivot barrel and did a blade swap. Here's the result:

The 486 blade looks great on the 560 handle. It can be removed and replaced with another in seconds. Blade play is almost gone, one-handed opening is somewhat stiff, though.
I wish Buck would reintroduce the 560 in the same package. Add a pocket clip, an S30V blade and a lock that allows one-handed closing to it and you've got the perfect knife. I'd sure as hell buy a couple.

i can tell you a s30v 560 is fantastic
had two and sold both to england!
yep that is a good looking knife!

The finished product looks great. I just recently bought a 486 and a 482, both great knives.

GFL, can you take another picture of the knife closed so I can see how the studs end up. The finger grooves should allow the studs to be away from the scales.

You're right, there's plenty of room for the thumb to engage the stud:

That's interesting, were these made at the Custom Shoppe? I saw BG-42 560's, but I never heard of a S30V version.

Btw, has anyone tried to install a pocket clip on the 560? Are there troubles with cutting threads into titanium?

So the 486 handle is broken after removing the blade, right? I know my Ranger swap killed the donor plastic handled one really well.
