I spent a little more time stropping the edge of my Hiker before heading off out yesterday.
I tried to get a close up of the edge.....
I then found some more Arrow wood which is one of the hardest woods in my area and selected a section about one and half times thicker than my finger. This is the size that would get used most for making trap parts, weapons, camp items ( pot holders etc ) and even shelters.
With one chop it nearly cut cleanly through, the only reason it didn't was because I wasn't supporting the branch and it's own weight caused it to tear when it was nearly through.....
I think that's a pretty impressive performance for a 5" bladed knife.
