It's been a good few days.

I received a Yugo M48A and a Ishapor Enfield two days ago. The Ishapor is absolutely great! What a super buy. Great metal, smooth tight stock. Only 169.00 and worth every dollar. 7.62 NATO.

The M48A was suppossed to be a replacement for a poor M48. It's going back, again. I am having a hard time with getting a good M48.

Tonight the Brown Stork brought me another new baby. A Turkish K.Kale hand picked Mauser. only 70 bucks. I expected a paper weight. When I opened the box I was blown away by the rifle inside. I am saying it looks brand new! Non-matching but just perfect. 8MM Mauser.

The Ishapor and the K.Kale are apare for inspection and cosmolene removal. I should have pics by the weekend.

Didn't Meatloaf say 2 out of 3 ain't bad?

I can hardly wait to shoot them this weekend.

I miss the days of cosmoline. We had the desert wide open, all that ammo, the rifles and the time.

What a time it was. Rusty was having a ball back then.

They are fun. I don't mind the cosmolene. Removing it is a good way to get to inspect the new weapon and familiarize yourself with it.

Steve, great stuff. Congrats.

Is your Ishapore Lee-Enfield a 2A or 2A1? The difference is the sight- the 2A1's is graduated for only 800 yds.

Year made? Mine's a 1964. Almost all have nice stocks too.

How about the black paint? It is a beeyotch to remove; it'll be winter before mine's clean.

AIM has South African 7.62x51 NATO battlepacks cheap. Don't shoot .308 Winchester in it; it has higher pressures and while it won't blow up the gun, it can lead to other probs. Can reload .308 brass to lower pressures for a range round.

Get your bayonet for it from SOG and get a CETME bayo free. :foot:

Century had $89 M48A's or was it AIM? But either way, blind-ordering C&R's is risky. I have a super-nice "Yugo" M48A (stamped German 98K, really) but I hand picked it myself at Samco. :D

Empire Arms has absolutely premium Russian-captured German K98's, if you're looking for a Mauser. Always a pic and a great description. It's a deal of the day scenario, though. Took me months to finallly catch one and it was worth it. Got the capture screws, front sight hood & cleaning rod from Numrich. Sling from Sarco, not IMA. WWII ammo with brass stripper clips from local "footlocker" surplus store. 1939-made M98 "Berg & Co." bayonet from ebay.l

C&R habit = absolutely more addictive than khukuris or crack (I guess).

C&R should stand for "Cash & Refinance" 'cause of the cost. :foot:

Hope you got the CENTURY, AIM & SOG newsletters... :D

Range for me Sunday with M44, SKS and M39. Mmm, no. The Lee-Enfield I got for $69 needs shootin'.

Congrats on a very nice sounding pair of boom-sticks. :D

Cosmoline...nice and gross at the same time, for me at least. A YUGO SKS gifted to me by my uncle was a mess. Cleaned up most of it with rags, but rubbed the grease out of the hand areas of the stock on a woods walk during a cool rain shower. I dunno, it just feels really good in the hands now. A pleasure.

Take care.
