Pleaseee help......
I started to build my propane burner and forge. The burner i made is similar to Ron Reil's. Tomorrow i will try it. But when i was seaching where would i get the lining material i realized that ITC or Satanite is never known in Turkey. Several sites and companies selling this type of products but i couldnt choose as there are plenty of options. The link i post is one of the companies' web site from Turkey. I can order these products, but which. Any advise would be so helpful.

http://www.remsan.com/urunleralt.htm

Left of the page is Turkish and right is English. Scroll down and you'll see why "plenty" of options i say..

The technical data for satanite is located here.
You might want to inquire to the company you listed in regards to which of their products is closest in composition.

Greg

Ripper :) Thanks.

Any comment for ITC? is the below ok and which would you prefer (I will say them must be resistant to flux):

Also Do i need wool or plastic type of lining or Mortar types are enough.?..

"...GUNNING

REMGUN 60 SIC 10 GG
Mullite based gunning and also castable concrete which contains min. Al2O3 based, SIC addition, resistant to erosion. Many features are hidh strength, high resistance to adhere and erosion.

REMGUN 60 SIC 30 GG
Contains min. %40 Al2O3 and %30 Silicon Carbide; mullite+ silicon carbide based gunning and also castable concrete. Many features are high strength, high resistance to adhere and erosion. Typical applications; against to adhere of dust in cement industry and resistance to chemical erosion.
"
REMGUN HTG
Remgun HTG is the gunning type of remcast HT, please see Remcast HT for spesial features and typical applications.

REMGUN 60
Fireclay based chemically bonded gunning material recommended for hot or cold durt surfaces. Typical Applications: STEEL-Soaking pit walls, coping, cover and flues, reheating furnace sidewalls, arches, uptakes, noses, open-heart fentails, wing walls, checker chambers.
"
REMGUN 60 C
Chemically bonded gunning material with superior features. Available both hot and cold surface applications. Typical applications; steel soaking pit walls, coping, cover and flues, reheating furnace sidewalls, arches, uptakes, noses, open-hearth fotails, wing walls, checker chambers.

"
REMGUN SUPER Lİ
Remgun super Lİ is a an aluminous, hydrauliç setting low iron, gunning castable has good strenght and high resistance to termal shock. Typical Applications: STEEL-polletizing furnaces, hot metal cars, ladles, open hearts fantails, wing walls, soaking pit walls, copings, covers, flues, reheating furnaces sidewalls arches, uptakes, burner walls.
"
REMGUN 50 Lİ
Remgun 5LI is a specifically formulated hydraulic setting 53% alumina gunmix. It exhibits excellent and abrasion resistance and resistance to carbon monoxide. Initially designed to meet blast furnace stack environment, could be used in incinerator linings, cyclones, gunnite resurfacing of torpedo ladles, soaking pits and reheat furnaces.
"
REMGUN 70
Contains %65 Alumina and available both hot and cold surface applications. Typical applications; furnace linning and as used covering material.

REMGUN HTG-LI
Bauxite, and alumina based very low iron gunning material. Specifically designed for steel industries severe applications.

REMCAST D-GUNMIX
Gunning type of Remcast D. Chemical resistance to water, acid and gas effects. High strength, hydraullic bonded gunning material with service temperature up to 1316 °C.

REMGUN 80 C
80 % alumina-bauxite based chemically bonded; high erosion and abrasion resistance. Reccommended for; cold or hot high alumina or super duty surfaces. Typical Appalications: ALUMINUM- melting furnace sidewalls below metal line/FOUNDRIES-electric furnaces/STEEL-pelletizing furnaces; hot metal cars; hot metal mixer walls, bottoms and spouts; OSM vessel backup linings (patching); open hearth fantails, wing walls ande checker chambers, soaking pit slag lines and bridgewalls reheating furnace hearths, soaking zone sidewalls and burner walls.

REMGUN 90 C
88 % alumina-corundum based chemically bonded; high erosion and abrasion resistance; low iron; low alkali. Reccommended for; cold or hot high alumina surfaces. Typical Applications; see Remgun 80 C.

REMGUN ARZ
Based on ocean sand, high agregate content and resistance to erosion. Resistance to effect of CO, high resistance to abrasion.Typical applications; high stacks and blast furnaces waste-burning plants, cyclones and heat-traetment furnaces.

It looks like the list of refractory material goes from the lowest tempurature (at the top of the list) to the highest heat application at the bottom of the list. I think you could use the REMMORTAR 3000 W because the next one down is good for 1750c ?? that is REALLY HOT so I would go with the 3000W. Remember that you can always put the ITC 100 on later. Use at least three coats! of the 3000W.

Ok mitch, i will go for it, :D  .

By the way, can i use these mortars for maintenance and repair purposes on the lining or do i have to get some "guning" material? ...

but I assume you are useing "kaowool" or some sort of 2inch high heat refractory wool to line the forge?? not some solid castable??

regards, mitch

I dont know. Yes i found a place for wool type. İf i go for it where will the mortar go? Above the wool or what...
I think I wont buy any mortar then... The wool type insulating material i found is has 1300 C servicable heat. I will need a coating material i guess, not only for insulation, also for keeping the nasty ceramic fibers in their place

that is what several coats of the REMMORTAR 3000 W will be for. In these pictures you see the 2 inch thick lining, and a pic of me "fireing" each coat of the "Satinite" between coats. you need 3 coats I would say. Also, I have laid some common fired ceramic 6x6 inch floor tiles in the bottom of my forge so there is something flat to lat things on and also you can replace them as flux eats holes in them or they become broken.

good luck!

Thanks, mitch. Nice pictures, clearing my mind...

3 succesive Kaowool 1" lining 3 times coated with insulating mortar. Thats what i need...

The order will be a packet of "3000 W" and a 7315x610x25 mm kaowool (thats what the minimum dimensions of the wool). Minimum order means (in english system) for these : 60 lb. Mortar
and
24 feet X 2 feet X 2 inch wool

and also a coating material for flux if available.

In 2 days i will have a propane forge :D  :) . I will be working clean and efficient (versus charcoal). I owe you.

do you really have to order 60lbs.?? You won't need that much just to coat the interior of your forge but of course Satinite can be used to repair firebrick and other things too. It should come as a dry powder so it will store well. Remember: you are going to coat only the "interior" of the forge, not each layer of kaowool. The kaowool is acting as a high heat resistant "insulation". The "Satinite" or whatever these people call their product is a "refractory" material: that is, something to actually "refract" or "reflect" the heat so to speak. The consistancy of the Satinite I used in my forge refurbishing was about like a milk shake....

ps. also in those pics I posted, they (two of them) should have been rotated 90o to the right...

regards, mitch

yes the minimum weight they send.

I couldnt make it usefull in these layers so i will use it to make another forge vertical and another portable and also will use it for my previous 3 coal forges. I guess with this determination i will finish the whole 60 lb. ;)

Thank Again. Regards Emre...

ps: I had to turn the monitor 90 o for the pics. ;) :)
