My father gave me a copy this past week.
Apparently he bought it off the web within the past couple of years.

Less How-To than the Household Cyclopedia contains.

More, and more recent, fomulas than H.C.

Haven't had time to look through it much, but it looks
as good or better than the H.C.

A quick Google search turned up several websites using
this book as the formula source for various products
sold by those sites.

Even the library access number to check your local library.

At first browse;
http://www.addall.com/
seems to be a very good book search site.

I'd like to add this title:

"The Art of Shen Ku" by Zeek. Billed as the Ultimate Traveller's Guide of this Planet. Also says "The most extensive assembly of asian secrets ever compiled in one volume." 600+ illustrated pages, at 20 bux it is a steak.

If you ever needed to know how to tie knots, massage or exercise, eat well and right, survive in the wild or in the city, this is the book for you. Totally packed with info. Includes home remedies from around the world as well.

Includes divinatory sections including graphography, numerology, runes, zodiac (east and west), pendulums, dowsing, handreading, magic tricks, etc. How to win a bet, acupressure, Guide to nonviolent child control, rapid reference herbal functions, self hypnosis, meditation, healthy macrobiotic recipes, enhancing Ki life force, classic martial art stretches, what to do if... list goes onand on.

Zeek is Steve Dolby, who has ventured around the world in his homemade sailing cutter.

This volume is similar to the "Worst Case Scenario Handbook."

I sleep better knowing this book is on the shelf.

Do you really think it is better than the Cyclopedia? If so I will try to get one as soon as I can.

Maybe......Probably.......

I haven't really sat down with it yet.

It contains more.
It is referenced by a lot more people on the web who are using it's formulas --now--.
It's more recent.
The focus is formulas, less How-To than the Cyclopedia.
Don't pay more than $10-30 new; you could find one used.
Some facimalie copies of the original printing
are sold on the web for $300.
There are at least 5 printing with slightly different titles.
My 1979 printing seems to be the most affordable.

The Amazon link for used:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...517293072/all/ref=sr_pb_a/002-2570978-6469636

If the link is to long for your browser just go www.amazon.com
and search for keywords: henley's formulas

It's also a nice snapshot of early 20th century technology.
