Turn Para tip down into tip up with JB Wield

I'm about to order up a Spyderco Para-Military and I want to convert it to tip up carry. I don't own any taps to do it "right". So I'm thinking just move the clip and glop on some JB Wield and let it sit. I'm in the military and this will be a daily carry knife so it's a form over function type of thing. Any thoughts? All my other blades are tip up, so I want this to be as strong and permanent as possible.

it may hold for a bit, but will eventually break off. probably sooner than later.

str can convert it to tip up for about $25 clip included.

check his forum in the maker's area. he's done two militaries for me.

Don't glue it!
Do it right with a metal inlay on the backside to catch the threads. Anything less will fail you.

Thank you for your service.

Cool, thanks for the heads up! Oh, it's defiantly my Honor to serve this great nation.:)

Assuming you are comfortable with taking it apart:

I think I would go to the specialty fastener bin at the local hardware store and buy some small (very small) stainless screws and nuts. Drill holes through the scale using the clip as a placement guide, then run them from the inside out. You might need to use a slightly larger bit to countersink the screw head a bit--I don't know because I'm unfamiliar with the construction of the Para. Use the nuts with a bit of locktite to secure the clip on the outside, then trim them to length with a hacksaw or file.

Total cost should be less than $10 unless you don't have any tools at all, and it would be much more secure than adhesive alone.

Hey chr first thank you for your service to our country!
To your question, I had str make me a tip up titanium clip for my paramilitary, and then I drilled and tapped the scales myself and installed the clip. I got my drill bit and tap from knifekits.com, heres you a link to the tap and the drill bit, they dont cost much either.

It's really easy to do. If you have any questions just hollar.

Hey realitycheck,
did you use some sort of plate or liner to tap the screws into or did you just drill and tap the g10?
Thanks

Just drilled and tapped the g-10. Talked to steve and found out they're no problems with this as long as your careful. Just dont pull on it and try to not get it caught on stuff.

Spyderco's G-10 and FRN have above standard (~30% iirc) levels of fiberglass fill and can widthstand drilling and tapping, as long as you're careful.

I've had mine done for a while now and no problems whatsoever. Talked to others that had had it done for a few years and no problems either.

The 2-56 tap and drill set, will they work for the screws that came with the Spyderco?

Hey chr i used the screws that came with the para military and they are 2-56. Yours should be the same.

Wavester, sure thing,

Titanium low rider pocket clip from STR. Absolutely wonderful pocket clips. I have one on a kabar D2 Dozier knife also. I love it.

i have used JB weld for a lotta stuff so i am familiar with it and it wont work for this, certainly not for long anyway.
