I couple of months ago I decided to show my son how to make a wooden spoon with a branch, a fire, and of course my BK2. Get the branch, carve the spoon, and use the shavings to start a fire. Then have him help me blow on a coal until the bowl of the spoon was formed. Finally fire harden it without sanding to maintain the carved out look. I thought I would share a couple of pics.

That's what it's all about. Excellent first post, and welcome to the forum.

First post! OP's been here since '08, and the Beckerheads finally lured his head out of its shell. Yeee-haw! :D

Great post, and what a neat lesson for your son too!
I bet he'll remember that for a long, long time.
Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Kudos to you bro for sharing that with your son thanks for the pics and that was a priceless...

Great post but even better for your son and you sharing the event welcome and thanks for sharing the event with us

Looking forward to seeing more of you around here. Thanks for sharing that.

really good stuff. a lot of us here are bigtime family men/women and it's always a great thing to see parents and kids out tearing it up in nature.

Thanks everyone! I got this BK2 about 18 years ago and it has been around the world many times, including being used in Afghanistan and Iraq. I made my own kydex sheath for it and I will post a pic of that sometime too. I am going to try and post more on this forum as I have been on here for years and it has brought me countless hours of fun reading while overseas!
