I got tired of dealing with my old horizontal bandsaw, mostly the way it twisted the blade and had a lousey table on it. I took all the moving parts off it and bolted a steel frame together. My blades last much longer now, I guess partially because the blade isn't twisted like before. The table I put on it is almost 12" by 12". It's just so much more convenient and takes up alot less floor space. It's even small enough to sit on a work bench if you want to. Heres a pic.

Wow,Michael , that's pretty cool. What make and model was it in it's previous life. Do you have anymore pics? Would like to see the other side. You just got to love tools.
Regards, Greg

Greg, it was a harbor freight saw, the $169 one. I'll take some more pix tomorrow. All I used for the body was some 1/4" plate and 1 1/2"square tubing. I call it Frankenstien because of all the bolts. Meant to weld it up and take all the bolts out but they stay tight so I guess it's fine the way it is. Sure works great.

Michael,I kind of did the same thing to mine.Only I had found a old antique one in the scrap yard and it wouldn't stand up but would stay at a angle horizontally.Well the main body of this one is casted so I just took a cutoff wheel and cut the hinges and then bolted the bottom of the saw to a plate and made a upright that way. Then I mounted a 1 hp variable speed motor from a tread mill to it and now it works great. The only thing wrong with the saw when I got it was one of the upper ideler bearings were missing.A friend of mne made one for it on a metal lathe his friend had and so I have a cool metal cutting saw that was all recycled and didn't cost me anything:cool: I did make a table for it out of some angle and flat plate also.
Do you have any problems with yours not having the top arm with the idelers on it like the wood saws have.
