Turning off G-Shock Light

I noticed that I can, in a way, turn off the light on my G-Shock watches.

I have 6 G-Shocks. I pick up a new one once in a while, when I come across something that I like. Up till now, I've used the light on the watches in the regular way; that is just pressing the "Light" button to turn on the light and then letting the light turn itself off after it's set run time - usually 3 seconds, but on one model, 2 seconds. The trouble is that I don't usually need the light to stay on for 3 seconds; one second or less is usually enough for me. And the light is a major draw on the battery. Sure, batteries are cheap enough, $2 or less, but changing them can be a hassle of sorts.

But, I recently found out that I can quickly turn off the G-Shocks light after turning it on. It works like this: After pressing the "Light" button and turning the light on, if I press one of the G-Shock's other buttons, the light will be turned off. So instead of the light staying on for 3 seconds, I can turn it off after 1 second, or less. This works on all my G-Shocks.

And that's my great discovery. Aren't I smart?

Very smart, i just want to be able to keep the light ON when adjusting the alarmtime, maybe u can try to figure that out ! :D

It probably only works on G-Shocks and Baby G's, not on other brands. It doesn't work on my Eddie Bauer (probably Fossil) digital watch.

Tortoise: Thanks for pointing out the Watchuseek site, and the G-Shock forum. Pretty interesting. Is my trick mentioned there?

My only gripe w/G-shocks. I love my DW003S. Tough pup.
