I understand Spark's reasoning. This forum alone has around 18,000 posts.

Yeah, The General Blade discussion at 40k+ and the Spyderco at 19K are the only ones with higher numbers. And the Spyderco forum was going strong before we moved here from KF a year back on March 7. we hit 10k about 9 months ( start of November 99 ) later. We were at 15k when Bill went to Nepal in February, and now 7 weeks later we are at 18k with more daily hits than ever.

The numbers aren't the point. But they are fun and an indicator.

It will be nice to have things a bit faster.

Rob what the "read only" means is that in a few days you will be able to read this, but it won't be possible to post to it any longer.
I have been guilty of bringing up some posts from a long time ago once in a great while.
In order to do that after the forum is archieved you willhave t start a new topic on the subject and/or link to the original in your post.

Otherwise everything will be just as it is now.

It's nice to know that the forum will be archived and all the invaluable information saved for all of us.
