Tusk First Impression

I came home to my Tusk today. I don't really need it being in Indiana, but my father-in-law does have a small sail boat that I go out on during the summer, so it is somewhat justified! I just love the engineering and execution. A few first impressions: It is small which didn't surprise me, but I would have like a bit longer blade. The blade is surprisingly thick, but I really do like it. Both locks are very solid, with the R.I.L. being slightly stiff and the Ball Lock is perfectly smooth and fluid. This is my first ball lock. The R.I.L. is very short and stout, so I think that explains the stiffness. The spike is very cool. I also like the screws. They seem to have a new dull gray finish that matches the Ti. The only thing I dislike is that they did not round the spine of the blade (shocked coming from Taichung  read sarcasm). When you open the spike and go to use it the sharp edges of the blade can/will dig into your palm. Other than that, typical Taichung F&F. That is about all I can say initially, but I did take some inside pics.

Do you think there is any chance of Spyderco doing a version with a spike made of pure silver ? For werewolves , ya know. :D
