Just wanted to do a quick post about my first real use of my 5" Tusker. Earlier this week, my father in law lost one of my crank baits while we were fishing my neighborhood lake. It hung up on a downed tree that fell in the lake. We tried to drag the tree out but we were on a steep incline and it was way too long/big. I remember wishing I had brought the Tusker! Well we went back yesterday and this time I was armed. It was a red oak about 6-8 inches in diameter and hard as hell. The Tusker made quick work of it. Each blow dug deep and took large chunks. It fit great in the hand, but I did wish I had a lanyard on it. Mostly because if I had let it go, I would have had to swim for it! I chopped through the oak in a little over 5 minutes but it didn't feel like it took that long. Afterwards, the first thing I did was check the edge. I couldn't believe how well it held up. It was like I had just taken it out of the box. I proceeded to shave hair off my arm. Hats off to you Scott. Your grind is incredible and the edge retention is really impressive. It really is a dependable working knife. This is just the 5" model, not a dedicated "chopper" but it met the challenge with ease. And yes, we pulled the tree out and I got my crank bait back!! If anyone is considering purchasing a Gossman, do it. You'll be glad you did.
