TUSOK: Will it happen?

Hi Rugger.

At this time, we have no plans for prodution. We could conceivably produce the model as an exclusive for Bram, should he be interested.

Thanks for the prompt reply Sal.
Bram, you listening? :D
Best regards,
Mike

i have been hoping for a Tusok since i first sw it. Chicago has a 2.5" limit so my gunting always gives me pause when i want to take it on a stroll with me ...

What would be the minimum number of prepaid orders to get the ball rolling (100, 200,...)?

AS my 51st approaches and my designs are getting musty and old I observe the following...
I see that someone has copied it already as a Kerambit-Karambit...its in the centerfold with the new Berretta machine gun..
very very cool..GUNS Magazine...
but of course its NOT a Spyderco..nor will it be
sort of like my idea for a rescue or a Gunting style rescue with a blunt non cutting tip, Pac man style cutting and glass breaker.. just wasn't in the Spyderco plans of production....I was really off base with that one...
Hmm like the many years ago idea of a Guntarambit..but Ernie Emerson and I were told how dumb an idea it was..the idea of making Kerambit-Karambits that is..Ernies idea waved mine KinOped...
Ernie moved forward a bit since that day long ago..
Again times show how true that statement is..
Kerambits-Karambits never took off..
Guess it goes with WAVES and KIN-OPs..frivolous ideas @ best..

THe TUSOK is a small effective Filipino Kerambit -Karambit design..no hole..and still resides within a full force continuum tool..

oh well..
somethings were never meant to be..

gotta go teach more CRMIPT -Gunting ..oh thats right ANOTHER frivoulous idea...

be safe
Bram

Probably 1000.

When Sal says that Spyderco would do an exclusive for Bram, just means that they manufacture it for Bram if he'd finance it completely himself, and distribute it himself. That is a lot of money, and a lot of work. Aint likely.

You guys probably should focus on trying to get custom knifemaker Tusoks, the way custom knifemaker Guntings are available.

Put that way, it does seem improbable. Still, is Sal and/or Bram really begin to consider this in the future, there does seem to be a certain amount of interest here.--Maybe --if they do think about doing it, they will start a thread or continue this one asking for investors and/or prepaid orders-- and if they get enough, it would become a reality. I am hoping that it will at least be placed on the far back burner and not completely shelved. I'll keep checking--that's why I read these things to begin with.

how much would a custom model cost?

oh, I wish Spyderco would make a limited run....it's an AWESOME design. I will get 2 if there is such a run....

Hypothetically IF it ever got made..and if I proceeded with doing it..
As Sal said Spyderco's NOT doing it...and said they have other knives to do...
So depending on who makes it will mitigate the actual production cost..and I do assume you mean the custom versions of a TUSOK..
big name? big bucks..
Plus hidden costs..
tooling..set ups..material..high end steel? high end handles?
finishing a design patent...its under way..
redesigning the blade shape options..have to see what edge ACTUALLY cuts best..no assuming..or following well we always did this..or in therory..want to see which cuts best..cuts flesh..Laborotory time...

Overall its the same in Racing as here with making custom knives..( no you really don't understand REAL cars or racing..the car thingie in your garage proves it...)
@ Motion Performance-Motion Mini we had a sign as you walked into our speed shop...
Speed costs money..How fast do you want to go?
WE knew..we held many NHRA & IHRA Records...
Dennie's Camaro, MAKO Sharks, THunder Bug, Vark 2, Hell Bound TRain, Rolling Aardvark...
well you get the idea..
we went fast and it cost ALOT of money..

Figure around $200-$400 each..then if its cheaper you are amazed if its in the price range you are content..

Well it's off soon to Vancouver BC, Spokane WA and then Baton Rouge LA to teach..

be safe
Bram
