Do contestants on TV game shows like CBS The Price Is Right, etc have to go through security screening before attending live tapings of these shows?

I often watch The Price Is Right and look for what kinds of knives contestants may have on their belt or clipped on the pocket, but I never see any. Makes me wonder if they have to go through metal detectors before attending. If so do they hold your gear while you are on the show, or does one have to leave them out in the truck?

Possibly -- when I went on the NBC Studios Tour in New York City two years ago, the security to get into the NBC building was more intense than the security to get into the United Nations. They screened us with metal detectors, for example. I can't remember if they examined or x-rayed things we were carrying, but they might have.

because cbs is a private entity, they can enforce nearly any rule they want, provided it is not discriminatory, illegal, etc.

i imagine, like most private venues, the prohibit anything that can be viewed as a weapon.

I would say definatly! they dont want any crazies attackiong and possibly injuring, or killing a tv host on the show...If nothgin else its for the safety of everyone participating in the show, including the audiance..I dont like it, and if I were to get ona show Im sure I would make a big stink over not beign able to keep my knife, but I coudl certainly understand why they have those rules..
