This basically puts two people on a short race (couple of days) across open country and they are followed on horseback by a tracker. There isn't a lot of actual tracking explainedbut it dispels the common assumption that a lot of people have which is that you actually follow a trail from start to finish. A lot of it is finding tracks, making assumptions about where they are going and then trying to pick up more tracks further on. The guy also will not get off his horse with rare exceptions so they "prey" lose him easily in swamps and such. It is on OLN. Usually they get caught when they stick to roads and such trying to save time as there is a time limit as well. It would be fun to see a top Eco-Challenge team do it as they would just run the entire thing from start to finish without sleeping.

Ooo, that sounds like an interesting show. Thanks Cliff, I'll check the OLN schedule and see when it is on.

Actually, i should check to see if we still have OLN. I thought the channel was doing a name or format change here (US). Hmmm.... I check it out tonight. Thanks again!

I've seen a few episodes, interesting show. I especially like the one with the ex royal marine and the eastern european paratrooper.

I just went to www.olntv.com

Discovered they don't have a [search] engine, and, they don't really have good way to scan for particular shows.

sounds like a good show, would like a clue as to when it may be on, Day/Time?

Roughly 18 miles in 36 hours, how much of a head start do you get? Being that I have tracked lots of folks from horse back, I know how easy it is to slow one down when they are following you. Doesn’t seem like much of a big deal other than made for TV entertainment.

Is this time limit given to both sides ? It sounds like the prey has to stay alive for a certain period of time . Can they just double back and do a little whomping their ownselves ? The question with these things to me is that they know they go home at the end of it all . Now if .............. L:O:L

Circle back and take out the horse, then it gets interesting! :D Did you know that horses are afraid of snakes? And snake-like sticks? And spring limbs that go WHOOSH in their faces? But then if a guy can track a mouse across a Wal-Mart parking lot....

Green horses might be, you get one that’s been chasing people for 5 years and not much fazes them. Goes like this, find sign, determine age, if not to old, put horse on sign and hang on. If you loose the sign, trust horse!

It is TV so I doubt they would appreciate you laying in wait for the guy and skulling him with a rock or similar. However one team did lay a string or wire across a path connected to two trees would would not have been nice to ride into.
