My show Real Talk 2012 is about to film our first 5 day survival Christian show. I am excited! I called the show Real Talk because Christians wont take on these topics. Matthew 24 Jesus says 2 things that we have ignored, 1. the love of many would wax cold, and 2. many will fall away in the last days. I think this is the last days. I think we could be in Revelation 9 vs 13-21 Go look it up. I ran could be starting it right now! My next topic I want to take on is firearms. I spent 5 years in law enforcement and have found that the vast majority of people, carrying concealed today are as or more dangerous than those they would try and stop. Why NO TRAINING! and its not that they wouldn't like the training nor am I down on them I love that they carry. But in most cases they cant afford it, the cost to go to a top class is around 3k and thats the basic then you need the advanced for another 3k (this includes travel, lodge, food, rent car, ammo etc) But if I had industry pros come on and teach and start basic and work our way up to advanced people could watch and practice for a fraction of the cost and really be ready and responsible. Anyway a lot of people think It is crossing a line... My thoughts are if nothing else its Christian entertainment and you dont have to watch the crap on regular TV...

What say you?

What exactly are the poll question and choices? Whether it's a good idea that the next topic be firearms or not?

I saw you talk about this in another thread and I'm also a little unsure of it. What would the differences between this and a non-Christian survival show be?

Also, I'm afraid this is a little off topic. Maybe more than a little

This is a small world lol. The poll is yes its needed and might work or no I think it crosses a line.
The survival show will be close to the others you see but it would be clean and talking about relying on God to get you through it. And that will be voiced a lot... Oh ya Ill be carrying a Busse :)

Got it. Well, I'm no religious man and this is your program so don't take my suggestion too seriously, but if you have an opportunity to improve society, then do it. I'm sure advocating proper training of firearms use is one of them. I can kind of see already that your show is a more topical while other survival shows are pretty repetitive (guy goes out, guy survives, guy makes it out alive).

I don't think professional training needs to be that expensive. One of your topics could be how to research quality instructors in a given area. I am looking into getting certified instruction. Another idea I have also recently seen you might want to discuss on this topic is using sites like group on and zozi for discounts. I'm signed up with one and have gotten several offers for intro classes with everything included for half off the regular price.
(this was an accidental duplicate post so I thought I would put in something a little more intelligent than, "Yeah woohoo goferit!" again);):D

I would disagree wholeheartedly that the non criminal gun toting citizen is just as dangerous or more dangerous than their counterpart. In my law enforcement time, I have seen nothing but positive results with several burglars shot.......they lived, but one now walks around with a colostomy bag now. And 3k for trainings is just absurd. A person doesn't need to be fluent in Chris Costa's Mantra to defend ones self or home which is what 99% of home owners will do if they ever need to pull a gun. If the person is conducting dynamic entry and hostage rescue......well then I could see the 3K price tag.

Some people might like a show mixing Survival and God, some may just want the show on Survival

I wouldn't watch it.

Real Talk,

I haven't got it in me to be the moderator today... So I will just ask you to follow the "bartender's rule" concerning topics of conversation in mixed company... (no politics, no religion)
Being that we are a forum made up of good folks from all over the world, many of us may have different beliefs and the best way to keep the peace in here is to keep those 2 subjects off the table.

Thank you.

Best of luck to you with your show.

I will comment on what I feel I am able to comment on. I do believe CCW holders, in Ohio anyway, should be required to have more firearms training than they do. I believe it should have state qualifications just like law enforcement here in Ohio does. I also feel that the shooting proficiency should reoccur every 2-3 years or so and it should be the gun you are actually carrying not a Ruger MKII!! I have seen and trained a lot of police officers. My average friend or family member shoots better than the average police officer. Firearms training is being stressed less and less in my neck of the woods. I also have personally not heard of anyone in my area using a CCW firearm inappropriately or dangerously but that could have happened. $3000 seems like a ridiculous sum of money, is that how much Thunder Ranch charges or something? TDI here in Ohio charges $175 a day I think.
