I have asked John if he could make the design I entered into the knife contest but as I was looking at it today I realized that I would not have the 3 1/2" of usable blade that I wanted because of the choil. To get around this I stretched the blade out a little but kept my other dimensions the same.
I actually think it looks better as well, what do you all think?

It looks good, I like the sort of arrowhead shape of it now. And I think you're right, looks like it will give you more useable blade area.

I still dont understand the humpback design. What are they good for? They look cool .

They allow you to choke up on the blade for intricate work and it also allows me to have a wider blade to give it more rigidity. If I were carving the shallow out of a wooden spoon for instance, then my grip would just be on the blade instead of the handle for better control. Also when skinning an animal( not that I do much of that ) your finger would be protected against any sharp bones because it would sit behind the hump, this is one thought as to why Nessmuks are that shape !

I like the design change, though I like the coloring job on the drawing you submitted for the contest a lot more than than the revised coloring job. :)

Before anyone points it out, my overall length is wrong and should be 8 3/4", I placed the tape measure on the 1" point when I measured and forgot to take an inch off again !

Yeah, Mrs Pit says you make that mistake often!!!:D
I do like the design btw.

I would like to see the hump with serrations and a bit of a thumb shaped contour. JMO.

I have to say pit, that knife design is weird as hell to my eye. The original drawing looks a bit like a Spyderco original Temperance with a much shorter blade, though, which is interesting. I'll be interested in seeing what the knife looks like in its final form.
