Hoo boy, I'm so excited to finish this before the official Tweeners drop and have been in silent competition in my mind as motivation. Figure I've had this blade planned as long as the Tweeners threads.

This is the largest of my hunting knife family. The blade is 3.7" (tip to handle) out of 1/8" O1 with tru-oiled curly maple gym floor handles. It's not quite done - today it gets a sheath and an edge. Since I wasn't satisfied with some of my finish work, I left a brushed 220grit finish and used the Flitz wax mentioned earlier. I'd call this a five-finger handle. Perfect for the ham-fisted, a tiny bit big for me, but it feels sweet.

I'm liking this so much I might have to get the drop-point Tweener just to have something in this size to pound on mercilessly... I'm babying this so far! Too bad I can't legally carry a knife this awesome in my state!

It fits perfectly in the Tweener spot! Hurry up, Kabar! I want a Minimum Camp to match!

I'll have some more pix up in the makers gallery maybe tomorrow after everything is done, but I wanted to give you guys a preview since the shape and size of this design is very much inspired by the BK series and the tweener void.

Oh, now that is some kinda sweet there.

Nice work.

HONOR THE MODS!!! SEND THAT PRETENDER TO ME, TO BE TESTED AND DESTROYED!!!

:D

2 minutes Moose? Wow!
Thanks. :-)

I bet it would fit a Moose-sized hand nicely. Mmm-hm.

I freaking like it. DO you have a name for it?
My bk2 should be here before Saturday. (free shipping is slow I guess)

DO you have a name for it?

Heh.
"115% Hunter"? It's a 115% scale version of my original locally-carry-legal 3" design.

In my original conception of the "line" there was a Hunter, Angler, Mariner, and Gardener (ambitious, I know). Two sizes of each. Well, that turned into 3 sizes... So this is the big Hunter.
I dropped the Gardener idea at some point - figure that's my machete. :-)

Nice stuff. I really like the one in your avatar. You sell em in the exchange?

Thanks, guys.

The one in my avatar is the 80% scale version with a ~2.5" blade.
I have not yet sold a knife, tho there is one ready to be purchased by a friend (a 100% size Hunter).
At some point I'd like to convert my drawings and send them to a waterjet cutter to make a small batch of blanks to speed up the process enough to be worth making some for sale. Right now it's all by-hand from p-ground stock, which works well for doing ones and twos. That and I need a maker's mark to etch on the blades. :-/

well let me know, i like that 80% version alot. hope i still have enough pennies after the tweeners and the new big boys coming out next year...

And for that, a reminder of the early days (only 7mo ago!), a picture of the original unauthorized BK-2/3 Beckerhead membership offering:

Thanks, Goose.

The BK11 has some 1/4" poplar fit into the handle cavities and then the leather dyed (Fiebing Mahogany) and wet-molded over them with an improvised press. I fit threaded stand-off posts (from some PCB or floppy drive or something) into two of the handle holes and the little bolts hold the scales on by screwing into the posts. The leather is finished with Super Sheen, so they're quite stiff and don't flop despite only being attached at two points.
