I Really like the looks of that 16 with the orange and black g10. That doesn't look like a normal Saber ground 16, unless the height of the grinds is another one of the variances of the hand ground process.

Probably something went wrong on the hand ground process, the other side of the knife looks just normal , but still a beauty[emoji16]

Yea I agree, love the tweeners. If you ever want to get rid of that saber 16 with the orange TKC scales, I call dibs 😉 it would look great with mine.

I'll wanna play!

This is my current set of tweeners...

I started with one 15,
found out they were discontinued, picked up 2 more...
Later, bought a 16 that the wife immediately claimed,
picked up a couple of saber 16's at Becker East,
gave a 15 to my brother,
bought a used 16,
sold a 15,
picked up 2 roll stamped 15's,
then recently picked up a LNIB FPR 17...

Patina on the 16...

Made some leather scales for the 15...

Got the spine to tip almost straight all the way down...

Here you can see how the upsweep is pretty much gone...

A little modeling from the 15's...

Made liners for the 16...

Thanks for starting this thread!

Thanks for looking!

You very welcome NCSlice, and thank you for participate !!! BTW that's a really beautiful set of tweeners, congrats!!!!

The bk16 is an awesome blade, so good you can't have just one..wish I could get my hands on a sterile saber 16..

.This one I reprofiled the factory edge and it definitely makes a noticeable difference in performance. It also is ridiculously sharp now.

I need to get a 15 before it's too late, even thou it and the 5 are blades that just never really appealed to me

The 15 is now the hardest to get, haven't seen that many for sale lately , you can find a saber grind 16 easier, they still popping out here and there more often.

What's up with the bottom 16? The blade profile looks much wider compared to the other flat grind 16.

I noticed too...I think because its sitting flat, facing the camera perfectly, while the others are tilted down a bit, toward their edge...
Just a trick of the camera...

O ok, I was looking at sharpening choil and it appeared the edge came down more than normal. Like it's almost a full u shape where on mine and others I've seen aren't.

After that edge job, you've no need of a saber 16. But get the 15. It didn't appeal to me that much either - then I bought one off the Exchange a couple years ago....and now I have 3. Almost bought a 4th, they were so cheap on a certain site - and stamped to boot! I love the 16, but the 15 is such a damn good EDC.....

Yea I know I don't need it, hell at this point I don't need any more new knives, but there's that Damn voice in my head that WANTS it and many other knives. lol

Needless to say the voice gets what the voice wants...I'm just along for the ride. [emoji12]

Any way the 16 does take an insane edge, and really without much effort. it's one of the sharpest knives I own now.

I'm planning on getting the 15 for me to use in the kitchen, that way I'll have a sharp knife when I need one for food prep (the wifey is slightly a germ aphob and doesn't like it when I pull out my carry knife in the kitchen for food [emoji17] )....so It's an endless cycle of me sharpening the kitchen knives and everyone tossing em in the sink and later thrown in the dishwasher ruining there edge.

So from what everyone says about how slicey the 15 is I figured itd be a good dedicated kitchen knife for my use only.

Whoever is throwing actual kitchen cutlery in the dishwasher needs to be expelled from the house with extreme prejudice. Even though I can't control or enforce the "right knife for the right task" rule, NO one in my house is numb enough to put one of the Wusthof's in the dishwasher. Seriously. You need to lay down the LAW in that house.

Well to be honest I haven't really bought any high end kitchen cutlery, (mainly bc of the reason of how they're neglected) I'm on the road for work pretty much Mon-Fri every week. So that's 5 days a week I'm not home to oversee how they're treated, so I have settled on cheaper sets that I just sharpen every month or so.

Maybe once the kids are out of the house I'll splurge on some nice kitchen cutlery

While ur at it...find some new, or better yet, vintage Old Hickory knives...they'll make the 15 look like a butter knife. An entire set can be had for the price of one 15, and they belong in the kitchen (although lots of folks mod them for bushcraft but thats a whole other thread on another subforum) Then you can have the 15 where it belongs...on ur hip!
