Tweezers on keychain tools

I just recently lost my sliver grippers that were on my keychain so I need a new pair of tweezers. I've been thinking of getting a small multitool for a while and thought I'd kill two birds with one stone. My question though is how effective are the tweezers on the Vic Classic and the Leatherman Style? Are they good at picking splinters? Can they do tick removal?

Victorinox tweezers are great. I don't have any experience with Leatherman tweezers, so I can't help you there. I did file my tweezers down at an angle to make them better at grabbing splinters and such. Plus, the classic is so inexpensive, you can really abuse it and not care

I have no experience with Leatherman style tweezers, but those on the SAKs work fine. They are good at picking splinters or other small things, but I haven't used them to remove ticks and probably won't ever do that, since I got a dedicated tick removal tool for that in my outdoor first aid kit. I also suspect the SAK tweezers will not get enough grip on the tick, but, I never tried.

I've used the tweezers on my classic to pick a few splinters, and a tick or two off of Pearl The Wonder Corgi, and they worked okay. But I carry a medium saftey pin in my wallet's zipper compartment, and find it actually works better at splinter removal if it's flush or under the skin.

I rarely use the tweezers on my Vic, but in the few occasions that I did it worked ok to remove splinters. I have no experience with removing ticks, so I can't comment on that. I say just go ahead and buy it, they're very useful. Instead of the Classic I recommend Rambler, Manager, or Midnight Manager. They have the small Phillips screwdriver-bottle opener-wire stripper combo tool. I'm sure you know how important a bottle opener is, but the screwdriver is very useful to open battery compartments of electronic gadgets, and it also works on eyeglasses.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll go ahead and order one. Rambler I think. And I carry safety pins already. ;)

Vic tweezers work like a charm.

I use them regularly at work when I have a splinter from a wooden pallet or metal.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. My only experience with leatherman tweezers is on my micra and they work fine. They are also attaached to the tool so you don't have a chance of losing them. Vic's work fine to.

I have a Classic, Rambler and Leatherman Micra. The tweezers on all of them work well for splinters. But the Micra's aren't so good for ticks.*

* Not that I deal with those much anymore since our dog went the great doghouse in the sky.
