My 12" Sgt. Khadka with dark walnut handle arrived this afternoon. What a treat. I am still amazed at how easily one can stroke an HI Khuk blade a few times with a ceramic rod to get it sharp. Then, just a little steeling and you're ready to split hairs.

Before I got into HI khuks I was sort of a stainless steel snob. Preferrably ATS-34 or 154 CM thank you very much. Then I got a Blackjack Trail Guide with an A2 blade and began to suspect there was life before stainless.

It seems to me now that you just can't get stainless blades quite as sharp as you can the old reliable carbon steels. And I love being able to bring back the edge on a heavily worked khuk with a few strokes on a 14" steel.

This Sgt. K. is the smallest khuk I own and it may turn out to be one of the most useful. I plan to use it as a general household/kitchen utility knife and see where that leads.

Thanks Yangdu.:) :) :)

My 12" Sarge gives me the very same good feeling as you describe. Like you, I have discovered the value in carbon steel over s/s. My latest knife is regular old 1095 steel and I am loving it. Enjoy the Sarge.:)

Nice Bill. I love my two Khadka blades. A 10.5" beauty dressed in hill wallnut, and a beautiful chiruwa BAS at 15" wearing horn. Both are superb in fit and finish, came sharp as all smack right out of the box, and have well made accessory knives that are HARDENED. He's a hell of a maker.

Ya know, that crossed my mind when I posted. But then I decided that 12" was too long to be misinterpreted as anything but the length of a khuk. NOT.:o
