After getting to see my name and family crest on a knife made by a major knife maker I decided that at least a small celebration was in order. So...I grabbed SWIMBO and we headed to Rembrandt's for coffee and cake.
First we sat on the patio having out treats watching the last light of the day fade in the west. I really like to sit here for the sunsets.
and then filling up our cups again...coffee for me...highlander grogg to be specific (one of my favorites) and coke for her, we headed off down the river walk for some quality time together. I couldn't resist some random shots.
This is looking back at the art district from the other side of one of the bridges along the river walk. For some reason those stairs always make me think of part of a Tolkien story.
The walking bridge parallels a main road and I liked this shot too.
There are lots of walkers and joggers on the river walk in the evenings...on up until about midnight or so and then it gets really quiet. I was glad to see I wasn't the only one drawn to check out the viburnum and Cherry Laurel.
Once away from the crowded area we just sat and talked and enjoyed the silence.
I'll be glad when the little pears get ripe, they make a nice snack but are never very sweet.
We found at one point we had inhuman company. Lots of these guys around the river.
and then we also found these mushrooms. I'm no mushroom expert by any means so the red caps to me scream DON'T EAT ME!
There is a big wind sculpture in the center of the art district and the stone patio underneath it makes a Celtic Cross. I like this shot. I've been trying to convince her to do a tasteful artsy pose for me here for a few years now, even offered to buy her a nice new robe just for the occasion.... but so far no luck with that.
