Streamligts Twin Task and Surefires G2 are very near the same price. I was wondeing if anyone has both, and how the Twin Task on the bright setting compares to the G2?

Thanks

Opps, edited to change it to a G2, not a G3!

The G2 has a substantially brighter well defined beam. The trade off is the additional runtime you get using the TT leds.

yep the TT is no where near as bright, imho the TT is more of a utility light vs a tac light, imho my fenix L1 is actually brighter (or pretty darned close anyway)..........

Darn, I was hoping that on it's high setting that it would be at least similar.

Knzn- what are you planning on using the light for? If you're considering Bar work... I've used both in the bar with good results.

I've used the TT for counting bottles and some other minor work, leaving the light on for 2-3 hours at a time on the low setting. I've also used the TT on the high setting for the removal of unruly guests.

However the Surefire is much better at removal of guests, than the TT... but you lose the advantage of having the low lumen light setting that runs for quite a long time.

I really like the TT, but it isn't close to brightness of the Surefire.

imho the main prob with the TT is that in trying to do 2 things (ie incandescent & LED) it really doesnt do either one very well, if ya want 2 diff brightness settings try one of the new fenix lights with the switch to change brightness, or a SF aviator, or one of the SF LEDs thats adjustable, any would be better than the TT imho, not that the TT is bad mind ya, its just not very bright. if ya dont need that it might work for ya, but a tac light its not.

G2's beam is tighter and throws farther. TT works well for me as a camping / hiking light, but even then sometimes I miss the longer throw. I think the TT's best feature is its lower cost - I don't mind lending or losing it.

I agree with SIFU1A on the 2 different features of the Twin Task. I have had an issue with having to hit the switch so many times to go from High to Low mode. 1 click from off goes to high, 1 click goes to off, 1 click goes to low, 1 click to off, 1 click to high again. So that can be a chore sometimes, and I've found that I normally end up staging the light to be ready for what I think I'll use it next for.
