So, I was at work yesterday when I received a call from one of our fellow members (thanks Paul) telling me that he had seen a Chris Reeve Knife that I might be interested in on the bay... of course I am always interested in Chris Reeve Knives.. especially the earlier folders and of course my favorite the Umnumzaan. Fortunately for me I do have access to the internet at work so I signed on to the bay and sure enough there it was a Large "P" Sebenza with the box and birth card and CRK Nylon sheath intact!! Now I already own a Large "P" Sebenza but I figured what the heck that's no reason to not have two!! Right?? I mean after all.. I have ten Umnumzaans and eight or nine Large Regulars.. what's another Large "P" going to hurt (besides my check book) and after all if I'm not happy with it I know a few guys that might like to own one!!
So, I hit the buy it now button!! What a surprise right!!:D But wait that is not the end of the tale!! What could be better than snagging a nice Large "P" Sebenza you may ask?? How about snagging one that was made on the exact same date as the one in the safe!! That's right.. I didn't realize it until later that day when I had more time to admire the photos of my latest acquisition.. and then I thought to my self, the date on that card seems awfully familiar.. sure enough, the birth card is dated October 19 1993 just like the one I already have in my collection!! And as you can see from my typical lousy photos.. they were obviously filled out by the same hand!! So I will soon have Twins!!
Thanks again for struggling through another one of my very long boring posts!!
All the best, Dave
First a pic of my current Large "P" and then my inbound.. i will take some better pictures when they have been reunited after 21 years!!

Thanks Bill!! I try to check the forums and the bay as often as time allows myself.. but as you and the rest of us know a lot of nice stuff comes and goes while we are offline!! It always pays to have a buddy watching your back!!
All the best, Dave
P.S. Good to post something on the CRK forum again!! I have been preoccupied with other things.. ;) but this is still my home away from home!!
I found something uglier than an Umnumzaan..

The P stands for Production:
P Sebenza Large: 1991 - 1995
P Sebenza Small: 1993 - 1995

I'm sorry… what's a "P" sebenza?

Great question Knifetten!! Early Production models.. are marked with a "P" and Pre-production models are marked with "PP" and some early one's.. are marked with P or PP and numbered as well. Very neat stuff IMHO...
All the best, Dave

That sure is an outstanding score Dave, great looking P. And thanks to Paul for the heads up. It will fit nicely into that already awesome collection you have...

I got to read one of your long (not boring) posts today, which was nice. Funny as it seems, I was kinda missing them...;)

Take care brother.

I'm with Alex, I too don't see what others see. I think there's a conspiracy, or a private group we don't belong too...;)

Congrats, Mike !

I saw that one soon after it was listed. I marked it, but then it was gone when I looked again this morning.

Glad it went to one of our BF members that frequent the CRK room !

Very Nice. I have 2 large P sebenza's myself. The one is marked P, I don't think the other is, will have to look. If not its of the P/original sebenza style. One is plain with the name BUCK engraved onto it. It was fitting because that has been my nickname since I was born....lol. The other is a stars and stripes CGG. Don't see many of those around either.

Again, Congrats on a Great Score....!!!

Thanks Buck!! I have seen photos of your Stars and Stripes, Awesome knife!! Would love to see photos of "Buck" as well!! Since were talking nick names I might as well share mine.. it's not really a surprise but has caused much confusion all my life.. yep its Mike!! :D Since I was a baby my parents and siblings.. my entire family has called me Mike.. I dont think I even knew my name was David until I started school. So everyone who knows me from school and work call me Dave and my family and friends from childhood call me Mike.. I answer to both, now you know rest of the story!! ;)
All the best, Dave.. I mean Mike.. I mean Huck.. dam.. no wonder I'm so confused!!

I will get them out and take a group pic of the two......Thanks for sharing your story. I have been called Buck since I was born. When I was born, I was very small, my great grandfather said I looked like a handful of Buckshot, so it stuck. Went by Buckshot for years, then it gradually got shortened to Buck over the years......I was on the bay one day several years ago and a guy had the large P sebenza that said BUCK on it. He was getting separated and was selling off stuff. He said his ex had one that said DOE on it.....lol.
