Ok, so if you have been following this saga.. you already know the story. And if you have been a frequent visitor to this forum you are well aware that I am anything but brief..
I do tend to take the long way around the barn on occasion, whether it is a thread (like this one) that I have started or in response to someone else's thread. See I told ya it's already anything but brief..
Anyway I was very fortunate (another word for lucky!!) to have been able to purchase a fine example of CRK History!! I as you know (or not) am a fan of both Chris Reeve Knives and History... combine the two and well I am like a fly on a cow paddy!! Happy!! Happy!! Happy!! Oh yea brief description.. l forgot.. ever do that? Happens to me a lot.. if not to you don't worry it will, just give it time..
So, anyway here is the rest of the story. I finally received the "P" Sebenza.. as you know it was a shipping nightmare and as of yesterday afternoon I was pretty sure that it was not going to happen. But thanks to the USPS it did finally arrive today. I was pretty sure that I would be happy with the knife.. but I did not expect what I received.. it is even nicer than my expectations!! As with anything there are of course things that I do not like about the knife and as those who know me will attest I if nothing else believe in total disclosure. So, here we go with a brief description followed by a few poor quality photos.
Wow.. did I say Wow.. yes I did.. So.. the Sebenza (P) that I received in the mail today (finaly) can only be described in this way.. It is what appears to be a LNIB Sebenza with a birth card dated October 19, 1993.
The box has what appears to be scotch tape on both front corners.. that is one of my three dislikes.. no big. The knife did not come with the original Allen wrench.. (there does not appear to be any sign of one being taped to the inside top of the box) I am not sure that the wrench was taped to the top of the box at the time these knives were manufactured so if one of our more experienced members can shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated. Its Twin came with the wrench but it also does not appear to have ever been taped to the inside of the lid. And last but not least the knife did not come with the cord(lanyard) attached. That's it.. those are the three things I don't like about the knife..
1. Scotch Tape on the box..
2. No Allen Wrench..
3. No Cord (Lanyard)..
Other than that.. wow!! Did I say Wow! I knew form the three photos of the knife that it was a "P" Sebenza with the original box, Birth Card and Nylon Holster... when it arrived I discovered to my great joy that it had the original tissue paper, caution statement and the very rare insert stating that the knives were no longer numbered dated January 1993!! All the accompanying paper work including the Birth Card as well as the holster are in mint condition and guess what? So is the knife!! Other than some very faint and I mean faint snail trails from handling and or storage the knife is perfect!! The ATS-34 highly polished blade is absolutely beautiful and shows no sign of ever being used or sharpened since leaving CRK almost 21 years ago!! An amazing piece of CRK.. IMHO of course.
