Over the last few years my collecting of slipjoints has taken a few turns.
I started and remain a firm believer in the Swiss Army Knife, for it's utility
it cannot be matched, the fit, finish, and quality is legend.
But along the way there have been a few other slippies and patterns that have got my attention and pocket time.
First it was Trappers. I like a large-ish blade for work and also for food prep if I'm away from home and the trapper filled that roll nicely.
Then I figured the trapper was just a tad too heavy for my pocket on an EDC basis so I looked at the Mini-Trapper...I liked them...a lot...But I missed the bottle and can opening ability of my SAK's.
I did much the same with Stockmen, Sowbelly's, Sodbusters, you name it.
Almost by accident I came across the British Army Knife (BAK)... I loved it.
It was sharp, built like a tank, easy to open, had a can/bottle opener, and a bail.
And it was English....Like me!
I'm currently EDCing the BAK 90% of the time now but I still enjoy digging out a stockman or trapper or a stayglow tinker just to break the week up a bit.
I've concluded that there is no one knife for me, though the BAK and SAK come close, but they haven't the beauty of a nice Case stockman or trapper.
Seems I'm doomed to follow...not the 'Yellow Brick Road'....but the long, twisting, wonderful path of a slipjoint collector.
