New to the forum. First SOG on the way. I have extra large hands and felt the XL was for me. I got the coated TiNi model. I will post a first impression when I receive it.

I have a question. Does anyone know of a retail knife store in central FL and more specifically a SOG dealer. Also, does anyone know of any knife shows coming to the central FL area?

I have been tempted to buy a Twitch XL. I like the Twitch II a lot.

Knife shows... hmmmmmm... the annual Blade show is scheduled for the first week of June in Atlanta. If you like knives, it is worth the trip even from Central Florida. I don't know the date off hand, but it is probably June 7th through Sunday, June 10th. You better verify the dates.

There is a show in Orlando in a couple of weeks but I have to go to Chicago for the Nat. Rest. Assoc. convention. I might try to get to the Atl show in June.

Daily Twitch XL user here.
In your area, just try 888knivesRus.com
Great knife BTW- you won't regret it.

Just received the XL.
Fit and Finish is excellent.
Action is very stiff and is not smoothing out after a full day of triggering.
Once the trigger finally lets go of the locking bar it snaps right into place.
I am going to continue to work the action to see if it will loosen up.
I hope so because the action is just too tight. It is near impossible to open by the thumb studs.
I am a little disappointed but I think it will work itself out otherwise it's time to tinker!!!! I think the tuf glide and BP2000 i have coming soon will fix it right up.

I think it should just break in over time, no worries.

You really should post some pics! :D

Pictures to come tomorrow.
This is a solid knife. It seems to be coming around. I will get it properly lubricated and report back.
Nice size and balance.
Beautiful and discreet until the Click!!

This knife is still grindingly rough to open. I just tried a Buck Tempest today and that knife is butter smooth compared to the opening of the the XL.
Time to break out the Dremel and buff smooth the trigger handle.
I can feel the trigger grind along the inside of the lock housing.
The action doesn't feel right. Too hard to open. :(

I was thinking the same thing. Unfortunate first experience w/SOG.
I now see their knives in retail plastic packs on the shelves at Lowes.
Looks like SOG is growing. Along w/that come QC issues. Unfortunate it had to be w/my first SOG.

Now that the Twitch is coming out with a tanto blade, any chance
of putting that infamous SOG style clip point blade on the XL? That would be a great combo IMO

I just received my Twitch XL back from SOG. It is no different. Still tight and rough to open. The trigger rides against the lock frame until it's released with enough pressure (too much pressure). I am going to have to remove the blade and grind down that area to smooth out the action. I just don't have time now. Looks like it will sit in the drawer.
I have my eye on a couple of arc lock models. I hope they work better than the XL.
I have added 4 Spyderco's, 1 Kershaw and a Buck Sirus besides the XL to my collection, except for the Buck, all are better in fit, finish and action.

There was a post on bikeforums.net where i also frequent. Guy posted about this new lube (well had been around a few years) but new applications for it called fluid film. This stuff is insane. I got a 12 pack of it and used on my bike knives etc. The stuff freakign boils when it contact dirt and such. I bet it would improve your twitch xl quite nicely.

I beleive its a wax encapsulated oil. And dirt and stuff burst the wax bubbles and release the oil hence the boiling effect.

Note i was not trying to plug another forum so much just saying where i found out about the stuff.

Any how heres the site for the stuff. http://www.eurekafluidfilm.com/ Link for find dealer etc is up top might be able to get a small sample or somethign if ones local who knows. Oh yeh dont over do it with it heh one little squirt is more than enough.
