I'm going canoeing this weekend. I've got a Twitch XL that i was going to carry with me as a JIC thing. How do these knife act with water. And do they need to be taken apart and cleaned really well after the trip?? I just don't wan't to mess up the Assisted Open.

Fresh water should not hurt these at all. Just leave open to dry well if you get it wet, shake the water out of spring area or use a dryer when you get home.

Do not hold knife over water unless you get a lanyard attached............:D

Ask me how I know this..........:o

Robbie Roberson.

Wnet fishing a few weeks ago and didn't put a lanyard on. I almost dropped it. I found some string to tie it up with after that.

Cool, i just wanted to make sure. I've gotten my Twitch II wet a few times and just dried it out really well with nothing wrong. Just wanted to make sure.

In that case i'll just use a hairdryer to dry it out..................

if you take the knife apart it voids sogs warranty

how in the hell would they know? If you are mechanically inclined enough , go for it! I did hear that there is a small detent ball under spring tension in the safety lock that can go bye bye if you are not careful and capture it during disassembly. I HAVE NOT TAKEN MINE DOWN THAT FAR BUT I HAVE TAKEN THE BLADE AND SPRING OUT W/ NO PROBLEMS AT ALL.

Well you can take the risk if you want.

Your answer is like asking how Nokia/Sony Ericsson knows whether you dropped your phone in the toilet bowl or it was wet by the rain.

My point exactly! It wasn't really a question but more of a statement. The answer is.... They would not know if you took it apart.

What I meant was that they will know if you took it apart. They can tell the difference between you taking out the screws and dismantling the whole knife I think. However I think they void the warranty more because you might tend to spoil it while dismantling it and they send it in as a "faulty product".

Back to the OP, going rafting with the Twitch XL should be ok. Just remember to rinse the knife, use a hairdryer to blow the mechanisms, then put a little oil and open and close a few times. Make sure it is dry by then.

Well, all wen't well. The knife still opens fine and i actually used it several times while i was out there.
