With all the stuff about Homeland Security possibly banning AOs, I thought I had better buy one while I still can. I've always been a Spyderco guy. I bought this SOG on the recommendation of my brother.

In the shop I played with the display model and really liked the action. I decided to buy it and the salesperson brought an untouched one from stock for me. This one wouldn't open all the way with the AO. The salesperson brought another one out, it also wouldn't open all the way with AO. I decided to go with the display model since it worked so well.

I'm working under the assumption that there is nothing wrong with the design of the AO on the twitch and the floor model had just been played with a bit and had loosened up.

Aside from that one issue, which doesn't seem to be a problem in the one I took home, this seems to be a lot of knife for around $60. Aus-8 isn't exactly a modern super-steel, but I have knives nearly 20 years old made with Aus-8 and they are performing well and take a good edge. The finish and anodizing on the scales is perfect.

I've sent my letters to congress about the Homeland Security thing. I hope that I get to keep carrying this knife.

Check to make sure that the lock actually holds the blade open. I had one and it did not, SOG CS replaced it two times before it was right and then I gave it away to a friend.

I snagged my little bro and I one off of steapandcheap for like $40 a few weeks back. After i grabbed up a twitch II and liked it i decided to go ahead and get the big brother. I've not had it under hard use, but i've semi tested the lockback, and had no problems out of my brothers or mine. The only time mine has had any trouble opening completely was right after i had gotten it completely wet or had dirt in it. I blew it our really well and all is fine. I like the knife.

light machine oil in the hinge pin would have gotten the brand new ones running perfectly. Use a small amount periodically for maintainance. Rem oil is good for this. Best.
