Here are a couple of new choppers I am just finishing up.

They were both made from .262 5160 stock and have double black canvas micarta handles with stainless tubing. Both are around 12.25" long, the largest size I can fit in my kiln! :D

Both are convex grinds with a weight forward design, I leave a lot of metal at the convex axe style tip. They both have a reflective "tracer" paracord lanyard.

They are differentially hardened and not drilled out as far as the handles go. This should make the "knocker" at the butt end very effective as a hammer in an emergency amongst other things.

100% sole authorship

Check out the cool detail in the choil area.

It is hard to tell but the knife is thickest in the upper middle of the convex; the shoulders taper a fair bit to sail through wood. You can see the weight forward design, it is wider near the tip.

Turned out pretty nice. How do the handles feel? They look a little uncomfortable. Not trying to criticize just wondering.

They feel great, I know what you mean though, they look kind of mean in the photos, lol. I really worked hard to round any hot spots that I or my wife could feel, something about the canvas micarta helps too. There is a lot of shape to them so they fill the hand very well which I think is important. The holes around the tubing are deeply chamfered so the tubes can't be felt even though they are smooth.

Another thing is, these are really heavy duty, you wouldn't want it flying out your hand! I think over a weekend of camping they would be great. If I were to clear brush all day gloves would be in order.

Thanks for commenting Tim, I really appreciate it! :D I can only listen to customer feedback and comments here, it means a lot to me.

Sounds good. I've got my first two chopper style blades at HT currently. Can't wait to get them back and go bush wackin'

choppy and black.. I like it.. them.. nice scalloping.. :D The big daddy is coming soon! muahaha

You guys are really going to like the one Sloth357 and I are working on. He drew up a few design mods to my basic design and it is going to be big and BAD.

On the topic of the scalloped handles, how do you like yours for the chopping?

Tim, I can't wait to see them when they are finished up, I'm a big fan of your work.

My only complaint on the medium chopper handle is it's a wee short. Not really an issue.. and as you know its scalloped..and I like it :) feels good. I'd like to try a nice symmetrical pattern that is more ergo to the palm perhaps.. but I could ramble on.. maybe a taper on the handle then scalloped, so the middle is slightly thicker.. I know this would make the pattern change and not be connected.. hard to explain..

in short, I like scalloped handles for the choppy! :D

Ohh the big one is gonna be bad. I need to look at the actual specs but about 15" long with about a 2.5" wide blade... MCAM scalloped handle... 5160 steel, chisel grind with spine of death* and some sweet swedge action Sloth357 designed. I'll probably do two variations and a hatchet as I'm sending these off for heat treat, too big for my kiln. :D

I'll do another test video with this one coming up, I tested the other two on video over in Knife Reviews & Testing. I have a lot more test ideas so it will be fun.

*I'm not sure what a spine of death is yet but it is gonna be bad! :D :D :D

Got mine a couple of days ago. I figured I would share some pics. This is a beautiful knife at one helluva price.

I know in another thread there were some questions about the sheath and how the clip on it works. I thought these pics would help. I really like the belt clip.
