Two blades, single backspring

Good evening!

I just got a Northwoods canoe knife, and am very impressed. This is my first traditional where there are two blades sharing single backspring. I like that it has the second blade yet not a super bulky feeling like most two spring knives. I can see more of these in my future, does anyone have any patterns (pics please!) that have this trait to share?

Thanks!!

Knice looking knife. Just don't open both blades halfway at the same time. It doubles the stress on the spring.

It was Neeman's fault. He tantalized me with his description of it in the Canoe thread. I found that everything he had said about it was true.

The 61s are also single back springs. I need to look into the canoe thread. It's become one of my favorite EDC patterns.

Here are mine - I love the slim handle :)

I enjoyed this one a lot until I lost it... stupid me! Case/Bose Muskrat

but hopefully I'll get a "replacement" soon :)

Single-spring my favourite, getting the blades to close/nest properly is a test of skill.

Other patterns to consider: GEC Conductor (lot of blade relative to handle) Northwoods Northfolk, GEC 57 Half Whitt, GEC 53 TK Cuban (a BIG penknife I hear!) Schatt & Morgan Keystone Half Whittler, CASE Senator/Eisenhower I think.

Ever since I got my first Conductor I've enjoyed single spring patterns. Here's another, a muskrat from AG Russell, a super nice single spring knife IMO:

Hmmm, I guess I really love a single spring/two blade pattern :D

Pipeman, I've been looking really, hard at those AGRs. Are they as good as they look?
If you mean the newer AG Russell reverse Congress muskrat, yes, I think so. The blades are nicely ground and nestle in without any rub. Fit and finish is top notch, easily as good as any of my GEC's or Schatt & Morgan's. The action is smooth, and it walks and talks. The pull is about a 4-5, more than a Buck but less than any GEC's I have. I haven't had to sharpen it yet as it's only had light duty in the office opening mail, cardboard boxes and trimming laminated posters but it came very sharp out of the box.

I picked up the LE maple burl handles but I like all the others too. Every AG Russell I've bought has been excellent.

Thanks for all the pics and options! I especially like the Norfolk and the white owl. Those case Bose knives are really nice too.......
Now I just need to choose one to buy next!

Here are the GEC #33 Conductor, #53 Cuban Pen, #68 White Owl, and #89 Melon Tester (this has 2 thin springs with the same thickness as a single spring, main blade rides on both springs, pen rides on just 1)

GEC #62 Easy Pocket Congress, Case/Bose Norfolk, GEC #61 Half Congress, Case Swayback jack as a bonus
