Two Blur's one's not like the other?

Suppose to be the same knife but the trak serts appear totally different. When did Kershaw change the serts and why? I much prefer the one's on the left. Not that theirs anything wrong with the others but I really like the others. One of my favorite EDC's by the way!

I have one ,gray color 2003 and the texture looks like the one on the left and feels exactly like sandpaper plus it's a lot thinner than the current insert material,which I absolutely favor,but thats just me, one of my favorite EDC.

I've seen some posts date the change from the grip tape to rubber inserts at around 2006-2007.

They changed from the skateboard tape like inserts to the rubber type inserts because of complaints of the skateboarder type inserts being too rough.
